There have been several security advisories from Debian (and given that Collin Watson, a Debian Developer is the new upstream author of man-db, I think they will just recently discovered); they talk about several buffer overflows (compared to "buffer overflow") in the changelog as well as mention other problems, e.g. "error in the routine that resolves hardlinks".

I am aware that Debian uses man-db version 2.x, while PLD uses man version 1.x, so this might not apply to the Debian version, but please check.
