  syslog-ng blocking programs trying to write to /dev/log

Status in PLD Linux Distribution:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  package version: syslog-ng-3.0.1-14.x86_64

  this is very annoying as non functional syslogd prevents you
  connecting to your system via ssh or use sudo.

  syslog itself with strace:
  # lsp syslog-ng
  USER PID PGRP STARTED TT VSZ RSS STAT CMD
  root      8814  8813 Thu May 14 02:47:20 2009 ?         36532    88 S    supervising syslog-ng
  root      8815  8815 Thu May 14 02:47:20 2009 ?         36788  1068 Ss   /usr/sbin/syslog-ng -f /etc/syslog-ng/syslog-ng.conf

  # strace -p 8815
  Process 8815 attached - interrupt to quit
  futex(0x668b34, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 1, NULL
