Obsoletes can't replace Epoch.
For example, if You have gaim-1.0.20030101 and want to install new
version gaim-1.0, rpm will tell that newer version is installed and will
give up.
But in most cases there is possible to avoid bumping Epoch - proper
Release (0.%{_snap}.1).
