Ok, so let us finally  decide: I propose 'services' directory,
because it  is similiar  to /home/services  and it  is shorter
than 'applications' - who has  any objections, please take the

Double "services" in path don't look nice to me...
Maybe "apps" - it's even shorter :)

I think that it's better to place that dir under
/home/services/httpd, not /home/services/httpd/html - so one can use
/home/services/httpd/html as DocumentRoot (even temporarily for sites
not finished yet) and don't automatically make access to some web apps
under arbitrary URL.
(apps should be accessible through aliases or vhosts defined in .conf
file, provided with package and included from httpd.conf - it's already
done in some packages)

Hi Helge,

No it is not, it is ignored because it is inrelevant and/or non
applicable. I know that dissccussing semantical meanings of words is 
not a good idea on this mailing list, but in the case of some statistics or
something it might by rellevant, hence I propose to keep the meaning of
the words. Resloved means that some action has been taken in order to 
change the state of art, ignored means it wasn't the case because of 
inrelevance or nonaplicability of bugreport.

"reload" is implemented just as restart in proftpd.init.
If it wouldn't break anything, it could be changed to HUP.

no, i think, that "restart" is completely different thing than "reload".
restart stops server and drops all connections, but
reload only change configuration for new connections.
both of these options are important and needed !

Hi!

I checked out the "bootdisk" module from cvs and I did "make" or "mkinstaller 
<optionsfromdoc>" but it says it can't find the modules.
Somehow it searches in "/usr/lib/bootdisk/targz" or something.
How and where should I install/checkout the module and is there a possibility 
to check it out to my sandbox-dir (other than /usr/lib)?

Exactly. That is why restart stops, and then starts the server, and reload 
just makes it reload (reread it's configs).

Do you have kernel-BOOT installed? You will need it.

The one way is to fetch all *.tar.gz files from
dists/ra/i386/PLD/inst/pkg/ and put then in /usr/lib/bootdisk/targz.
You can probably redefine directory with -t option to mkinstaller.
For more info how to use mkinstaller see mkimages script.

If I were you I would probably create my-pkg.tar.gz, with your version
of ui-wizard, and whatever else you want (i.e. my-pkg.tar.gz should
contain bin/ui-wizard, bin/whatever-else), and make bootdisk with:

mkinstaller -t $PWD/targz -p root,ui,net,my -m floppy,net

or something similar. Files from my-pkg.tar.gz will overwrite files from
root and ui pkgs.

It probably screems for *-pkg.tar.gz files that are ,,packages'' used by
installer. It didn't get to RPMS installation.

Subject: Gnome 2.2 Nest/test status

As several people have noticed we have Gnome 2.2 in Nest branch of PLD
distro.

However, several things need to be finished:

1. GStreamer. Core library is on ftp but plugins needs to be finished.
The spec is almost done (look for the todo list at the begining of
spec file) but there are several libraries not built on Nest builders...

2. Multimedia appliactions: gstreamer-player, nautilus-media,
gnome-media. They will appear in Nest just after gst plugins will be
finished.

3. Missing directories. For example /usr/share/gnome is not owned by
any package (I am not sure which one should own it... libgnome?).

4. PR person. Somebody who will announce the availability of new
Gnome versions on http://www.gnomedesktop.org. Anybody?

And additionally

5. Gimp 1.3.x. Perl support is not enabled. Python support is enabled
but, imho, should be moved to separate package and the Python console
problem on Gimp startup should be fixed.

No, I mean I want to change network-config AFTER I installed the system (on an 
existing PLD installation)

I have the kernel-BOOT installed now and started with:
./autogen.sh
make
But make fails, ...
./Makefile calls ./mod/Makefile
and in there @target mod-stamp the line "sh mkmod" fails, because in 
/usr/lib/bootdisk/lib/modules/version/modules.dep
all modules are includes as <name>.o.gz. Unfortunatly some of them are gzipped 
and some are not!

Then you can see how it's done in installer-conf. There is setvar
function called, look with grep where it's defined.

ungzip files that are gziped, and create modules.dep with depmod.

Are you sure you need your own kernel? Maybe it would be better to use
already packaged -mod.tar.gz files from PLD ftp? 

I'll be doing (as time permits) a script to setup environment to run 
mkinstaller with prebuilt -pkg.tar.gz and -mod.tar.gz files.

why?  there  are  a  few  programs suited  to  fit  into  this

Because there is no /home/services/httpd/html/services directory.
No package provides it, so it can have any permissions, making files
inside unusable.

So directory must be added to some package (probably webserver, i.e.
apache) first, and web applications moved there (all, not only tutos;
moving just one is making mess bigger than now).

There was proposal of /home/services/httpd/applications directory and
some discussion (see pld-devel-pl archive), but it has faded out.

It seems that such problem exists when /usr/bin/libtool is used, not
libtool generated from configure for current $CC.

I don't have any other idea than adding --tag=CC or hacking
/usr/bin/libtool (but I don't know where exactly...)
