TeX fonts

A build of beecrypt has just failed on me with:

! Font U/dsrom/m/n/10=dsrom10 at 10.0pt not loadable: Metric (TFM) file
not found.

the real reason being latex not able to run mktextfm (tetex-metafont
wasn't installed). Shouldn't some base tetex package require
tetex-metafont? Or maybe the package should be merged into the base
tetex package?
