daemon already has that feature:
msg_usage " daemon [--user user] [--fork] [+/-nicelevel] {program}"
> [ -z "$MLDONKEY_NICE" ] && MLDONKEY_NICE=0
... but this should've been MLDONKEY_NICE=+0 (or removed, "" would give
the default priority.
