this situation is exactly same as pentium3, pentium4, s390 and few
others: if someone needs it can compile for such arch

ok. but it compiles on my ppc with ppc7450 by default.
this causes some troubles with several specs which
know nothing about ppc7450 (i.e. compat-libstdc++.spec
and ExclusiveArch).

as i understand your words, packages should be compiled
on ppc with ppc arch by default?

yes, they should, and they will unless you build rpm for ppc7450 arch
and if you have rpm build for ppc7450 it shuld produce 7450 packages
by default

why have you changed md5 ? it's empty string sum:

before doing:
./builder -U some.spec
do before:
./builder -g some.spec
on it's old version,
else wget creates empty file and it has such md5

also, i cannot build rpm because its configure script looks
for ppc7450-pld-linux-gcc (--target ppc helped)

therefore i have disabled rpm-moremacros.patch as it is broken at
this moment.

to x86_64 arch test if following specs build correctly

OK, I see that gnome-vfs2-libs were separated, so one must do --nodeps
upgrade and remove gnome-vfs2.

In default installation latex eats all available memory when trying to compile 
a simple file. Issuing these two commands works around the problem:
$ sudo ln -s /var/lib/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt /usr/share/texmf/web2c/latex.fmt
$ sudo ln -s /var/lib/texmf/web2c/pdflatex.fmt /usr/share/texmf/web2c/pdflatex.fmt
Why are those two files in /var/... when latex and pdflatex command search for 
them in /usr/...?

i've fixed dgee.spec to compile apache1 and apache2 modules properly.
to do that i've create dgee-pnet.patch, to make things just to compile, it's 
probably wrong.

anyway if nobody fixes the pnet related building i suggest to drop dgee from 
Ac, because
1. if nobody fixes the pnet patch (checks that it's correct), the nobody needs 
it?
2. the package on ftp has neither apache module inside at this moment and 
pulls apache2 deps (with -apxs dep, which is unneeded)
3. afaik it's not useful without apache module.
4. also the current package can't stay on ftp as it uses old style apache 
packaging which just doesn't work:

apxs:Error: Config file /etc/httpd/httpd.prefork.conf not found.
Run "/etc/rc.d/init.d/dgee start" to start goltwater and dgee services.

That's because of X11-xkbcomp-level.patch which both removes runtime
warning and breaks RAlt.

daemon is still running, new one fails to start

2. I don't see any way to enable builtin service (such as daytime)

Also, there are some config parsing inconsequences (xinetd script
requires SERVICE_TYPE=RPC for rpc services, while rlinetd and inetd
scripts check only for RPCNAME).

Probably compiler bug, it goes away with -fno-schedule-insns.

But it looks very strange, AFAIK FP_REGS is floating point registers
class (forbidden here by -mno-fpu compiler option) and I can't see any
floating point operations in preprocessed source file...

  Introduction

/usr/share/ssl/ca-bundle.crt is used by OpenSSL as a database of root
certificates.  If the certificate for current OpenSSL-served session
is not signed by one of the certificates found there, application should
display a big fat warning.


  Security

Users who ignore the big fat warning mentioned above, are apt for a man
in the middle attack. [1]  Using SSL without checking certificates is
mostly pointless and gives false sense of safety.


  Actual condition

Our ca-bundle.crt contains only Unizeto certificates.  Pointless, should
either be empty or contain more.


  Problem

We are, of course, due to state that our users should care about who
they trust on their own.  Being a perfectly consistent policy (and an
easy to maintain one ;-), it's not very user friendly.  IMO, user-
-unfriendly security issues usually get ignored.


  Proposed solution

Use certificates from Mozilla.


  Possible implementations

Use ca-bundle.pl script from apache1-mod_ssl (only in sources, we don't
distribute it) to fetch certificates from Mozilla CVS and create
ca-bundle.crt.  Then:

a) Just install it in /usr/share/ssl/, marking as %config(noreplace).
b) Create a directory in /etc [2], symlink /usr/share/ssl to it.
c) Whatever.

For now (and for Ac), I'd chose a).


  Alternate solution

Create a (init?) script to use the contents of /usr/share/certs and
maybe some other directory (for user's own certificates).


  Unizeto

According to [3], there were concerns about distributing their
certificates.  I'd leave it as is and add them to ca-bundle.pl's
output.


[1] I know a small ISP who did (maybe still does) that to force own
    transparent SMTP relay.  ISP's CA certificate was (is) installed
    in user's system by a technician during network installation.
    Clients never complained...

afaik they're different projects [1], and there's nowhere's said that horde 
one is deprecated? ie the 1.2.4 & CVE ref doesn't apply to this package but 
up-imapproxy.spec [2] instead?

i wanted to split courier imap so that ssl and non-ssl services are separated 
(also same for pop3), but the outcome is completely ugly. especially 
confusing is maintaining triggers (drop them?). and the Obsoletes: imapserver 
in imap and imap-ssl would remove eachother during upgrades. why do we need 
the obsoletes for? i think with proper configuration you can run all ten 
different imap servers on same host ;)

about packaging, it looks like -ssl needs imapd binary (same for pop3-ssl), 
should the binary moved to -common package, and imapd, imapd-ssl just provide 
the initscript? or make -ssl depend on imapd package? for flexibility first 
option would be better. (and allows imapd invocation from superserver in the 
future if one want's to do that)

also why there's such weird inconsistency:
package: courier-imap-pop3, service: courier-pop3

i've commited current .spec to DEVEL branch.

second solution look's better for me and don't break what is main idea of

It's more general issue, not only inn-related.
Many syslog-handled log files are owned by some rpm packages, some of
them are created in %post.

So: should log files be created/owned by rpm packages or not?

Current default syslog/syslong-ng configuration in PLD use
/var/log/news/news.* - so when this dir doesn't exist, syslog will fail.

imho syslog handled files should be handled by syslogdaemon package.

so, syslogdaemon should own /var/log/news dir too.
and inn.logrotate shouldn't exist, the behaviour should be in syslogdaemon

So current syslog.conf is inconsistent both with syslog-ng and inn
(/var/log/news/news.* are specified in inn.logrotate and innwatch

as long as rc-scripts supports devfs, it's not obsolete. and the entry is 
noauto so it doesn't cause any side effect (imho)

but with your change people running custom 2.4 kernel with devfs, will 
probably have unbootable system.

which reminds me that while having udev active (mounted under /dev), 
installing udev package, it's not possible to create static /dev entries 
which udev package contains, which results at startup 'unable to open initial 
console' message. from that i was able to "rescue" with devfs=mount kernel 
commandline option. the latter is probably initrd bug? ie initrd should 
already call start_udev before handling over control to real rootfs?

It's change for recent kernels.
If someone has devfs configure he has it already in fstab.

I don't think that any new devfs-system will someone create.

Anyway - it's change for future setup releases, for Th, I think.

AFAIK no - see Python-2.4.2/Doc/tools/mkinfo file.

There is no problem - on builders is installed everything. If you want to 
build Python for yourself and don't want to install Emacs, you can pass 
`--without info' now - I've just added an appropriate bcond.
BTW: Python info pages are used by Emacs context help - it is quite 
convenient.
