So, I modified my metasend to use mktemp instead of tempfile (metasend-mktemp.patch). 2) apache-mod_auth_pam apache-mod_auth_pam is not compatible with Apache >= 2.1, as they have changed the authn/authz mechanism. I gave a look at Fedora Core package and found that they patched their Apache 2.2 to provide a kind of fallback that allows the original apache-mod_auth_pam to work (httpd-2.2.0-authnoprov.patch). I also noticed that there is a new apache-mod_authn_pam modules that uses the new 2.2 authn/authz mechanism. So, we can mark apache-mod_auth_pam with a "Requires: Apache < 2.1" and integrate apache-mod_authn_pam for Apache >= 2.1, or patch Apache like Fedora did and keep the original apache-mod_auth_pam. I made a package for apache-mod_authn_pam (based on apache-mod_auth_pam) and I also included a custom patch that introduce an optionnal directive AuthnPAMService that allows you to select a different pam file than the standard /etc/pam.d/httpd (that way you can protect different part of your website with different pam file : "AuthnPAMService foo" will use /etc/pam.d/foo) I did not include the apache-mod_authn_pam.src.rpm as it makes the message too big for the list. You're right. I gave it a try, and it works. But my error_log is now filled with these error messages: [error] Internal error: pcfg_openfile() called with NULL filename [error] [client 192.168.253.32] (9)Bad file descriptor: Could not open password file: (null), referer: http://pldmachine/what/ Don't you get these errors ? The "noprov" patch from Fedora might be the best way afterall, as it allows you to upgrade from Apache 2.0 to 2.2 without touching to your conf files and it does not generate error messages on each authentication (even if the authentication is sucessfull). Anyway, if you want to package apache-mod_authn_pam, here is the spec file (shamelessly copied from apache-mod_auth_pam) with the pam service selector I use. Note: mod_authn_pam sources are not distributed in a tarball format, so you must check it out from their cvs. - http://mod-auth.sourceforge.net/docs/mod_authn_pam/ Regards, J?r?me Aug? -------------- next part -------------- # $Revision$, $Date$ %define mod_name authn_pam %define apxs /usr/sbin/apxs Summary: This is the PAM authentication module for Apache 2.2 Summary(es): Este m?dulo proporciona autenticaci?n PAM para Apache 2.2 Summary(pl): Modu? uwierzytelnienia PAM dla Apache Summary(pt_BR): Este m?dulo prov? autentica??o PAM para o Apache Name: apache-mod_%{mod_name} Version: 0.0.1 Release: 1 Epoch: 1 License: Apache Group License Group: Networking/Daemons Source0: mod_%{mod_name}.tar.gz # Source0-md5: d7e2601f226c0319e3178f00406537b7 Source1: apache-mod_authn_pam.conf Source2: httpd.pam Patch0: apache-mod_authn_pam-AuthnPAMService.patch URL: http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/mod-auth/mod_authn_pam/ BuildRequires: %{apxs} BuildRequires: apache-devel >= 2.2 BuildRequires: pam-devel BuildRequires: rpmbuild(macros) >= 1.268 Requires: apache >= 2.2 Requires: apache(modules-api) = %apache_modules_api BuildRoot: %{tmpdir}/%{name}-%{version}-root-%(id -u -n) Provides: apache-mod_auth_pam %define _pkglibdir %(%{apxs} -q LIBEXECDIR 2>/dev/null) %define _sysconfdir %(%{apxs} -q SYSCONFDIR 2>/dev/null) %description This is an authentication module for Apache that allows you to authenticate HTTP clients using PAM (pluggable authentication module). %description -l es Este m?dulo permite autenticar clientes HTTP usando el directorio PAM. %description -l pl To jest modu? uwierzytelnienia dla Apache pozwalaj?cy na uwierzytelnianie klient?w HTTP przez PAM. %description -l pt_BR Este m?dulo permite que voc? autentique clientes HTTP usando o diret?rio PAM. %prep %setup -q -n mod_%{mod_name} %patch0 -p1 %build cd src %{apxs} -c mod_%{mod_name}.c -o mod_%{mod_name}.la -lpam %install cd src rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT install -d $RPM_BUILD_ROOT{%{_pkglibdir},/etc/pam.d,%{_sysconfdir}/httpd.conf} install .libs/mod_*.so $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_pkglibdir} install %{SOURCE1} $RPM_BUILD_ROOT%{_sysconfdir}/httpd.conf/52_mod_authn_pam.conf install %{SOURCE2} $RPM_BUILD_ROOT/etc/pam.d/httpd %clean rm -rf $RPM_BUILD_ROOT %post %service -q httpd restart %postun if [ "$1" = "0" ]; then %service -q httpd restart fi %files %defattr(644,root,root,755) %attr(640,root,root) %config(noreplace) %verify(not md5 mtime size) %{_sysconfdir}/httpd.conf/*_mod_authn_pam.conf %attr(755,root,root) %{_pkglibdir}/*.so %config(noreplace) /etc/pam.d/httpd %define date %(echo `LC_ALL="C" date +"%a %b %d %Y"`) %changelog * %{date} PLD Team All persons listed below can be reached at @pld-linux.org $Log$ -------------- next part -------------- LoadModule authn_pam_module modules/mod_authn_pam.so -------------- next part -------------- #%PAM-1.0 auth required /lib/security/pam_unix.so account required /lib/security/pam_unix.so -------------- next part -------------- --- mod_authn_pam.orig/src/mod_authn_pam.c 2003-11-11 10:16:17.000000000 +0100 +++ mod_authn_pam/src/mod_authn_pam.c 2006-04-26 19:05:21.000000000 +0200 @@ -92,6 +92,7 @@ typedef struct { int fail_delay; /* fail delay in ms -- needs library support */ + const char *service; /* service name to use for PAM authentication */ } authn_pam_dir_config; static @@ -114,6 +115,7 @@ (authn_pam_dir_config *) apr_palloc(p, sizeof(authn_pam_dir_config)); new->fail_delay = 0; /* 0 ms */ + new->service = pam_servicename; /* httpd */ return new; } @@ -125,6 +127,11 @@ "number of micro seconds to wait after failed authentication " "attempt. Yes, I get them too. However these entries are not problematic for me. I'm just filtering them out from logs if I need to. They're there because previously mentioned "AuthBasicAuthoritative off". Since basic auth isn't authoritative apache falls back and is trying other authentication methods. I read about this somewhere on apaches web site, but I don't remember where exactly. It was few months ago. I'm however sure that you'll get those errors for every authentication module if it will not be authoritative, not only for pam module. I even recollect some discussion I found through google about eliminating those warnings from logs in case of unauthoritative authentication modules. M. Message-ID: <450C7960.9040107@limanowa.net> I wrote many times that I'll do my best to release Ac stable before October 2006. Since its two weeks from now its time to decide if I'll do it or not. Because of that I'm asking all developers: do you think that current Ac main is ready to be released as stable? If not, why? If I'll decide to release Ac now following things will happen: - kernel will be built from LINUX_2_6_16 branch - current Ac ready will be included too - Ac main will be permanently frozen on September 24th - ISOs will be ctreated using current bootdisks Few words about bootdisks/installer... There are still some bugs, most of them unconfirmed. I currently don't have time to validate/fix them. However I've not encountered any serious problems disallowing to install PLD since RC2 bootdisks (and I was installing it on at least 20 different machines in that time). Ac security team... In worst case scenario Ac will be released before December. Its not that far from now. After that we will need to maintain updates. As I can see from CVS commit logs, not many developers care about security/general updates in Ac. I simply can't take care of that by myself. Therefore I'm asking: are there any volunteers for keeping Ac secure and up to date? If not, perhaps we should reconsider "always in developement" way of maintaining PLD? "stable == dead"? Everybody knows how Ra ended. We could say it was out of date the day it was released. I don't want Ac to end this way too. Thats why I'm open for all, even some major upgrades after releasing stable version. And small miscellaneous info: - please do not respond on pld-devel-pl or pld-devel-en, use pld-discuss to keep messages in one thread - yes, I was to lazy to wrote this message in polish too, althought polish replies are welcome if you can't/don't want to write in english M. Indeed. The problem was in libgdiplus itself: ldd /usr/lib/libgdiplus.so [...] libgif.so.4 => /usr/lib/libgif.so.4 (0xb7c81000) However libgif.so.4 was not present (I had got libungif) and I had to create a link manually. I remember I've encountered this problem some time ago. Packages build using giflib (as I see libungif is obsoleted) should Conflict libungif or sth, otherwise there's no missing dependency. -- Tom Pala http://vfmg.sourceforge.net/ http://tccs.sourceforge.net/ From aredridel at nbtsc.org Tue Sep 19 00:19:41 2006 From: aredridel at nbtsc.org (Aredridel) Date: Mon, 18 Sep 2006 16:19:41 -0600 Subject: Bad dependency (Need FTP move/rebuild?) IIRC, we kept (some of) them separate in perl 5.6. While preparing 5.8.0, my goals included: * allow coexistence of different perl versions (I was hoping, that some day RPM will start to handle multiple packages with the same name nicely -- silly me) * "poldek -i perl" installs whatever modules come with the perl tarball. Right now, both are fulfilled. I'm not too convinced if the first one is actually useful, though. Installing separate perl in /usr/local is way easier, than dealing with RPM. > additional pros on that is that the base perl install gets smaller. What would you like to strip?
