To the evil people who are messing with ruby rails - please make
rails 2.3.5 and its deps available on some branch, or even better make
new rails3 and friends packages.
The only real piece of software in our repo that uses rails (redmine)
REQUIRES rails 2.3.5, does NOT work with anything later[1]. Your work on
those packages makes redmine upgrade impossible.

PLD's spec file was last updated on the 25th before the above
mentioned compromise took place and the md5 checksum we have for our
sources is the correct validated one.

I noticed while doing some testing of the roundcube beta package that
it will not build using older rpm-build-macros. Specifically I had a
machine with 561 that died trying to run the first %sed macro, after
upgrading to 596 it builds fine.

Is this something that should be noted as a BR? If so does anybody
know what version of rpm-build-macros would have effected ${__sed}
recently?

I was afraid you were going to ask that and I was doing to have to
downgrade everything to try it again. I got lucky and found the old
build in my screen logs. Here is the important bit:

Looks like %undos macro. It BRs rpmbuild(macros) >= 1.566.

Huh what? These were not back to back when I edited, adapter did that :-)

Trying to build was failing during configure with something about
missing ffi.h or some such. I ran `poldek -i libffi-devel` and it
worked so I figured it was that simple. Why did the original BR not
warn me my system didn't have it? Or are we actually dealing with a
version problem and it needs >= X?

That link isn't a bug report so much as a request for one. Also it was
suggested what information would be helpful to include in the bug
report. I just looked in the bug tracker and don't see a bug report at
all much less the requested conf file.

I did look at the spec briefly and was unable to duplicate the problem
using my own confs. If someone who is having this issue can file a bug
report and include their confs we might be able to find something.

I imagine for a security issue like that someone will step in and update AC.

However it might be pertinent to ask whether that should be an upgrade
to 4.7x or a patch to the 4.6x line used in AC. Does anybody know if a
back-port of te the security patch will be available for 4.6x? I see
some other distros "patching" their old trees just by removing the
root privs from exim at least as a temporary measure.

Hey guys don't forget we're on the same team here.

I tried making this change myself, but either my smattering of awk
knowledge is not enough or something else is going on here. I made up
a variable and striped the spaces from it and used that for the tests,
but it gives the same error we started with. Then I realized that the
original variable was already being stripped (see line 199)! The ~
comparison must be doing something other than just stripping spaces as
per the regex.

Anybody know what else is going on there? Here is my attempted patch.

Hi,

Some of the i686 compatible cpus (VIA C3 Nehemiah [0], AMD Geode LX, 
Transmeta Cruose, probably others) lack support for the NOLP instruction 
(optional for i686).

Unfortunately there was a wrong assumption about NOLP in binutils for a 
while, resulting in glibc (and probably other packages) misusing NOLP 
when they shouldn't:

(this is a Nehemiah machine).

This has been fixed in binutils a while ago [1], [2], and 
binutils-2.21.51.0.4-1 seems to behave properly:

With our current optflags (--march=i686 --mtune=pentium4) we should be 
safe, so all that's left is to recompile glibc and some unknown number 
of other packages - on carme-i686 I found libggi to be affected as well.

I realize there's probably a handful of users affected by this, and 
eventually the problem will be solved during usual rebuilding of 
affected packages but it would be nice to be able to install th-i686 on 
this machine sooner than later.

Glibc does not compile at this moment [3], which should be fixed anyway. 
Any help with this will be greatly appreciated:

Uhm... maybe binutils problem?
It *did* compile some time ago; now I observe the same with glibc
2.12.2, the only build chain part that changed AFAIR is binutils (I have
2.21.51.0.4).

exec dbus-launch ck-launch-session /usr/bin/gnome-session

in ~/.xinitrc and it didn't work.

i think we should change the homedir to something fixed,
so that changing webserver (or installing packages with wrong combination)
wouldn't cause inexistent homedir of system user.

for example cronie fails to start jobs if the homedir does not exist:

nm-applet problems, usb mounting problems and accessing sound device
problems - all of them have been boiled down to ConsoleKit-0.4.3.
There was a change between 0.4.1 (works) and 0.4.3 (doesn't work) that
makes 0.4.3 unusable in PLD for the moment. More details here:

For CK-0.4.1:
ck-list-sessions shows for current session
active = TRUE
and everything (nm-applet, sound, mounting usd drives) works fine.

For CK-0.4.3:
ck-list-sessions shows for currens session
active = FALSE
and nothing from above list works...

The attached patch has been found in the debian bug report. It fixes the
issue, but it's a simple revert of the changes that introduced the
problem. It _should_not_ be pushed to the PLD repo without discussion
about possible side effects.

0.4.3 works here, above bug reports are spotting some configuration
problems not related to CK.

CK session was not started properly (there are some missing bits in PLD
to run it out of a box).
