The package rename is super annoying; and considering that PHP already works so hard on backward compatibility, I’d love to see them all use the same package name.
Perhaps when upgrading we can rope in a php-compat-config, though, to tweak parameters in backward compatible ways. Fresh installs wouldn’t include it? Maybe?
