For me poldek is like a wild horse as it needs very delicate knowledge of how to choose packages during installation or it will pull in loads of unwanted packages . Recently I am having this desire to do another fresh install of PLD Linux but not from a rescue CD but rather by a chroot either from Arch Linux or from my current PLD Linux , did some search through AI and I was given a method to install poldek on a new partition by downloading its packages and then building up system above it but the server links AI provided to me all give 404 error. I being the only user other than PLD own community do face difficulties in dealing with this distribution as it is not meant for everyone. Any ideas how to install PLD Linux from chroot would be appreciated . If desired I will paste the steps given to me by AI but which failed to work for me . If you don't want to use rescue as a rescue cd then you could use it as chroot - unpack contents of iso and use it as a system ... to install final pld in desired directory. Untested but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. Like chroot /where-rcd-is-unpacked/ cd / mkdir /here-new-pld rpm --initdb /here-new-pld/ poldek --root /here-new-pld/ and install whatever you want (probably mount binding /proc, /sys there would make sense too, before installing anything) -- Arkadiusz Mi?kiewicz, arekm / ( maven.pl | pld-linux.org ) From drmarwat at gmail.com Sun Apr 6 10:03:08 2025 From: drmarwat at gmail.com (Saleem Ceann Khan Marwat) Date: Sun, 6 Apr 2025 13:03:08 +0500 Subject: Fresh install of PLD Linux In-Reply-To: <85cd6c89-2248-4335-837e-3ac15336c804@maven.pl> References: <85cd6c89-2248-4335-837e-3ac15336c804@maven.pl> Message-ID: Thanks , will test this , I do the same with arch Linux sometimes.
