Sprawdz w /etc/vmware, czy nie masz przypadkiem tam zerowego pliku 
not_configured (czy jakos tak) i w razie czego usuń.
Poza tym do modprobe.conf wpisz sobie 'alias char-major-10-165 vmmon'.
