Panove,
I've thought about this message for a few months but finally
decided that it's better done and turned down than too late.
The question is, what are PLD project's goals and principles?
As far as I can tell (being just a humble packager in our team
and a bit of project manager in our free software consulting firm
here in Kiev), the goal is to some degree in the name -- to have
stable and staying out of the way distribution which is nice both
to use and to build upon.
Also looking at PLD specs (and borrowing one or another, or
a patch, or a translation from time to time), I've wondered how
come that you did quite similar modifications to stock RPM macros
to what we are used to (thanks to ldv@).
OTOH from some conversations I've heard that a year or two ago
PLD got forked (which is quite a sore topic for me, generally,
since for a couple of years the thoughts of forking ALT when some
things just were dropped on the floor instead of being solved).
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Maybe it could be reasonable to discuss kind of merger of the
teams to avoid fixing the same things all over again? I'm not
in position to speak in the name of the team but still the
proposal is here; Cc'ing people who either expressed interest
or might have more influential word on that in team.
To kind of introduce them, here are some links (in Russian):

PS: I've taken your addresses from specs I used to peek at,
trying to guess who might be the proper people to contact.
Guess some are missing... it wasn't intended.
Thanks in advance, and looking forward for your reply.
