Subject: can't write to socket ?!?
Message-ID: <003e01c1248f$5507eab0$1fa1a2c3@JAN>
hello dear list,
I am trying to configure solidpop3d.
When I try to get the mail for user "helene" I have this message in syslog :
Aug 14 10:36:06 x1.wynanet.ch spop3d[11668]: [ID 702911 local0.notice] user
helene authenticated - 195.162.161.31
Aug 14 10:36:06 x1.wynanet.ch spop3d[11668]: [ID 702911 local0.notice]
send_ok(): can't write to socket
Aug 14 10:36:06 x1.wynanet.ch spop3d[11668]: [ID 702911 local0.notice]
write: Broken pipe
Aug 14 10:36:06 x1.wynanet.ch slapd[4794]: [ID 979422 local4.debug] conn=-1
fd=15 closed
Authenticatien over pam works fine. User "helene" is stored in a ldap-db
which seems to be authenticated correctely.
But what means "can't write to socket" ?
Please could someone help me out ?
Furthermore I am not very familiar to spop3d.conf
I've just stupidly copied an example. This looks like this :
LogPriority daemon.info
AllowRootLogin no
#MailDropName Maildir
MailDropType Maildir
#UserBullFile .spop3d-blurp /* It's just an example */
ReadExpire 0
UnreadExpire 2w
many thanks,
Jan

the strange thing is that telnet localhost 110

Subject: virtual domains with version 0.15 ?
Message-ID:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
OpenBSD ships with SolidPOP3D version 0.15. Has 0.16
been released yet so they can make that the new default?
With 0.15, how can I specify the passwords of "virtual"
users? I like to set up a domain example.com with one
user id, "example-user-1" and want the users for that
domain to be authenticated from ~example-user-1/passwd.db
Is this possible? How is everyone else doing it?

No. There is no 0.16 release yet.

It's impossible with 0.15, however you can try beta version, which
behaves very stable. Look at ftp://dione.ids.pl/pub/solidpop3d/pre
The mechanism you are interested in is called domain-per-uid.

Ok. I'll try that. Thanks. Are there any plans to release
0.16 in time for the OpenBSD 3.0 release?
Also, are there any plans to incorporate the OpenBSD patches
to the main source? They are simple, unobtrusive patches,
I can post them here if you want.

Subject: PATCH: OpenBSD bug fixes
Message-ID:
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Here are the patches the OpenBSD project applies to
solidpop3d version 0.15
The $(AM_MAKEFLAGS) addition fixes a potential bug and increases
portability.
The change from /var/spool/mail to /var/mail reflects the current
Linux standard as well as universal BSD practice.
Not sure, but I think the change from running as user spop3d to
user nobody was done for security.
Changing the log levels makes it fit in better with OpenBSD

Thanks. What is the password? "cvs" isn't working as the
