Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to inquire whether your Linux distribution might consider accepting trainees through the Erasmus+ programme.

I am a doctoral student at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Criminal Justice and Security. My research has previously been focused on cybersecurity and corporate security, while my master's thesis examined the issue of smart contract fraud. This is also the subject of a research paper that I am currently preparing.

My primary working language has been English, which I use on a daily basis. In addition, I have been learning German and have previously participated in student exchanges in Germany, where I was also able to use the language in practice. I am also open to improving my Spanish, a language I first encountered while volunteering abroad.

I would like to emphasize that I would be financially reimbursed through the Erasmus+ grant provided by my university, and therefore I would not require or seek any funding or payment from your Linux distribution. Unfortunately, the Erasmus+ programme requires that the traineeship take place in person rather than remotely, so I would need to join your team on-site if you were able to host me. The duration of the traineeship can range from two months to twelve months, depending on what might best suit your needs.

While I am primarily looking to expand my skills in the field of cybersecurity, I am already accustomed to working in multicultural environments. In addition to my research background, I have also gained experience in translating and transcribing work, alongside the professional experience already mentioned below.

Since March 2025, I have been an intern at the Department of Trainings at SIQ Ljubljana. In this role, I contributed to an increase in training sales by developing an innovative approach to designing contact databases and implementing targeted advertising. Within four months, I successfully sold five closed training groups and secured eighty registrations for open sessions. I also renewed interest in educational content that had previously been inactive. Between 2021 and 2022, I worked at Vibacom, poslovno svetovanje Violeta Bulc s.p., where I provided IT support. In this position, I streamlined the transcription process of YouTube seminars and prepared transcripts in the English language.

My areas of expertise include language learning models, smart contracts, cybersecurity, and best practices in these fields. I believe that my academic background, research interests, and professional experience would allow me to make a meaningful contribution to your Linux distribution. I would be very grateful for the opportunity to explore the possibility of collaboration through an Erasmus+ traineeship. My CV and references are available upon request.

Thank you in advance for your consideration. I would be happy to provide any further information if required, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely, Luka Modic
