Using installer 2.4-experimental (i586), I made ext3 partitions and 
installed PLD successfully.
Then, after reboot, newly booted kernel panicked 
(unable to mount root fs) -- 
I believe the problem is that in 2.2.x there is no ext3 support .....
and the boot kernel IS 2.2.22...
