I tried it on several machines, it always dies with
[root at hakan etc]# rpm -e php-pgsql
/var/tmp/rpm-tmp.85501[4]: /usr/sbin/php-module-install: not found
error: execution of %preun scriptlet from php-pgsql-4.1.2-4 failed, exit status 127
