btw: it is wrong, .dat file should be regenerated, as it was done
on some 64 bit arch. Probably .dat file generatation should be fixed
to always use 32 bit (or 64 bit, but the same on all archs), index
size, as the file goes to /usr/share/*. (endian stuff is handled
correctly).
