I have added the (without) bcond 'status_bar' - this should work with
a custom settings in .screenrc - I have tested and the effective entry
is the last one (ie. first we process /etc/screenrc then ~/.screenrc)
so legacy user preferences should be safe.

The proposed caption should work, and be readable on black-on-white
and white-on-black terminals - so it should be safe to use it in
different environments.

I will modify a patch and add o comment how to disable status bar
(caption splitonly works for me)

I would like to add these to the /etc/screenrc as comments.

BTW what windowlist does? I haven't seen any effect of this settings.
