i don't know this one. try mythtv faq, mailinglists, mythtv irc channels...

ps: you might try running frontend under mythtv user, maybe the configuration 
differs, like LocalHostName in mysql.txt makes all mythtv-setup configuration 
saved under that name. i couldn't get my channel switching working until i 
did cp ~/.mythtv/mysql.txt ~mythtv/.mythtv/mysql.txt because all settings i 
changed were saved under different LocalHostName.
