hm..
have you any specific options in /etc/ssh/sshd_config?
I tried to connect with putty 0.60, 0.59, 0.54 to server with
openssh-4.7p1-3.amd64 and haven't any problems.

Then i try to use default config (.rpmnew) - and still i haven't any
problems...

What kernel? maybe it's problem? I used on my testmachine 2.6.22.18-2

Have you tried to use  
HPNDisabled yes
or TcpRcvBufPoll no ?
