imho it's rather confusing what should our naming convention to be

as some (quite some) have "MyModuleName.egg" name but importable module 
name is "mymodule"

most of the packages are created from name of the egg, not dir that 
module itself resides. should the "policy" [1] be adjusted/corrected?
