The fix is --without-sasl2 (not --without-sasl). My brain fart, now verified.

I'll also change configure.ac to be "opt-in" rather than "opt-out" in rpm-5.4.17.

Two syslog msgs for every rpm exec (or library load) is too much info for my taste. ymmv.
