And this is why I don't like branched development of packages, these
branches get lost and lead to work duplication. I can understand that
for the core components, where doing an update is fragile, but for
common cases please do development on master.

Please do, and let's bump to 1.19.3, it's almost stable and backtracking
is not worth the work here.

Yes. These people really should fix that sick versioning scheme.
