Hi there,
patching a pre18 with the patch for 2.2.17 failed with some rejects in
linux/include/fs.h, etc. ...
Is there a patch for the new 2.2.18-series or do you want to wait until it's
stabilized ?
And now for something completely different: What's about quota support for
reiserfs, I once asked that months ago, someone said, it's on the way but I
never heard about it since then (maybe I'm not listening hard enough :-) ...
bye,
P.

There is just *one* conflict with the USB backport, several lines in
fs.h, though.
I needed a running Linux 2.2.18pre9 w/ reiserfs a few weeks ago, so
I patched fs.h manually. If you want the modification, ask via email.

pre18 has a different style for fs/Makefile as well fwiw.

Think the problem with 2.2.18pre is mainly that usb got added and this breaks
reiserfs-list w namesys.com <reiserfs-list w namesys.com>a set of includes
(unless you mean 2.2.18pre18 is out with changed makefiles...) Chris posted
a diff that lets 2.218preXX and the aa kernel series from 18pre2 to 18pre15
to work. Check the archives. I had fs corruption problems when trying this
diff with18pre17aa1 - be carefull.
I have had execellent results with 2.2.18pre15aa1.

Ok. So my changes won't work on newer 2.2.18pre kernel versions.

As always with patch, it cannot always resolve everything.
Just do a find . -name "*.rej", and apply patches by hand.
2.2.18Pre17 is running stable over here...
It is the usual bunch of rejects caused by inclusion of the usb, which also
adds some (union)types at the same places where reiserfs would have put it.
There are no structural changes, so once applied by hand, everything works
fine...
