Mam sysloga i u mnie logowanie nie działa.
IMHO albo zmienić prawa na plik jak pisałem i logowanie działa,
albo nie zmieniać praw i w freshclam.conf ustawić tak:

UpdateLogFile /var/log/freshclam.log
LogSyslog no
======================
wtedy logowanie też działa.
