Package : prior to sendmail-8.12.6-2
Vulnerability : char-to-int conversion
Problem-Type : local
PLD-specific : no
CVE references : CAN-2003-0161
CERT advisory : VU#897604 CA-2003-12

Michal Zalewski discovered a buffer overflow, triggered by a char to
int conversion, in the address parsing code in sendmail, a widely used
powerful, efficient, and scalable mail transport agent. This problem
is potentially remotely exploitable.

The above problems have been fixed in version 8.12.9-1 for the
current stable distribution (ra).

We recommend that you upgrade your sendmail packages.

wget -c url
will fetch the file for you
rpm -Uhv file(s)*.rpm
        will upgrade the referenced file.

If you are using "poldek" - the package manager, use the line as given below
for upgrade packages

poldek --update
        will update the internal database
poldek --upgrade 'sendmail*'
        will install corrected packages

If you are using "apt" - the package manager, use the line as given below
for upgrade packages

apt-get update
        will update the internal database
apt-get upgrade 'sendmail*'
        will install corrected packages
