Uwierzytelnianie przy otwieraniu stron WWW

Witam

Nie moge u siebie na serwerze z robic logowania przy otwieraniu stron www. 
Stworzylem sobie plik htaccess -> logowanie dziala na serwerze zrobionym na mandrake 9.0, natomiast na moim [PLD] nie!!
Wyskakuje okienko logowania a potem pokazuje ze nie moze otworzyc strony.
Lynx zwraca takie cos:

Looking up sowa
