After typing "poldek --mkidx" poldek creates index in file packages.dir and poldek.dir.mdd but after it, it doesn't use it at all. It can see only packed version, packages.dir.gz. Example:

After "poldek --mkidxz" everything works fine. I think the --mkidx option should be rejected or program should be corrected.
