Consumes 100% of CPU time all the time.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Run audacity
2.run `top', sort by CPU usage, watch audacity
3.
Actual Results:  
Audacity consumes 100% of CPU time.

Expected Results:  
Should consume less CPU time.

Debian's SID audacity doesn't suffer from problem mentioned above.
