Merging is not excuse for BREAKING things. In this case:

EVERY change was wrong.

Once again: if you want to merge without checking out for others'
changes, do not bother doing branch at all. I won't do the same work
twice (on every possible branch or after 'merge'). It's merger's job to
keep all the stuff working well. Apparently you didn't do diff at all...
