can PLD be my favourite distro?

simplest rule to install pld is - never use cd's ;)

download rescuecd, boot from it and.. install pld from network.
download ~50mb packages is enought for install "base" pld.

next, when you have "base" pld already installed it's easy to install
additional packages, X, firefox, gnome by poldek.
